（1）before“在…之前”，表示主句动作发生在从句动作之前例Close thewindows beforeyou leave the room,please.,请关上窗）★注意before long“不久”例Before longhe tookover theediting ofthe magazine.（不久，他接手了杂志的编辑工作）long before“很久以前”例She saidshe hadseen thefilm longbefore,（她说她很早就看过这部电影）

（1）when

①“当…时”，表示主句动作和从句动作同时/先后发生从句可用延续性/瞬时性动词例When工lived there,工made quitea fewfriends.（我住在那里时，交了不少朋友）一动作同时发生，lived为延续性动词When Igot there,the trainhad left.（当我赶到那里时，火车已经开走了）一主句动作先发生，从句动作后发生，got为瞬时性动词

③常用搭配be doing...when...正在…这时…例Jack wasworking in the labwhen thepower cutoccurred.（杰克正在实验室工作，这时断电了）be about to do...when...正要...这时...例We wereabouttostart whenit began to rain.（我们正准备出发，这时天空下起了雨）★注意1如果when引导的时间状语从句的主语与主句主语相同，而从句的谓语又是be动词时，那么从句中的主语和be可以省略如When youare in trouble,ask herforhelp.（当你遇到困难时，向她寻求帮助）f Whenintrouble,ask herfor help.注意2当when引导的时间状语从句的主语与主句主语相同时，往往还可以用“when+分词”的形式替代该状语从句如When Icame intothe room,I found him lying there asleep.f Whening intothe room,工found himlyingthereasleep.注意3在时间状语从句中，不能用任何一种将来时，如一般将来时、过去将来时态或将来完成时，而要用相应的一般现在时态、一般过去时或现在完成时来代替如Ill telephoneyou as soon asI getthere.She saidshe wouldphone meas soon as she got there.Dont getoff thebus until it hasstopped.
