CBasketball fans around the world aremourning thedeath ofAmerican superstarKobe Bryant.Bryant waskilled ina helicoptercrash Sundayin California, along with his13-year-old daughterGiannaand sevenother people. He was41years old.Bryant was an18-time All-Star player. He wonfive NBAchampionships andtwo Olympicgold medals. He waswidelyconsidered oneofthegreatest basketballplayers ofhis generationduring his20-year careerwith theLos Angeles Lakers. The helicoptercarrying Bryant and theothers crashedinto ahilly areain foggyconditions outsideLosAngeles.Bryant livedsouth ofLos Angelesand oftenused helicoptersto travelaround thearea tosave timeandavoid SouthernCalifornia traffic. The causeofthecrash isunder investigation. It tookplace about32kilometers fromBryant,s MambaSportsAcademy,a basketballtraining centerin NewburyPark,California.Bryant wasonhisway to attend ayouthbasketball competitionon Sundaywithhis daughter.Bryantand his wife,Vanessa, had fourdaughters. When heretired fromthe NBAin2016,Bryant wasthe third-leading scorerin NBAhistory with33,643points.He iswidely expectedto beelected to the NaismithMemorial BasketballHall ofFame this year. The basketballworld andthe LosAngeles communityreacted toBryant sdeath withan outpouringof sadness, disbelief andsupport. In astatement,NBA CommissionerAdam Silversaid Bryant was oneofthegreatest starsinthegame.Buthe added,He will be rememberedmost forinspiring peoplearound theworld topickup a basketball andcompete to the verybest oftheir ability.U.S.witter,the U.S.President DonaldTrump notedthe terriblenews. He calledBryant oneof basketballtrulygreat playersof alltime whowas justgetting startedin life, passage probablytaken from
