埃德·米利班德在工党年会英语演讲稿中探讨了社会公正的意义EdMilibandSpeaksontheImportanceofSocialJusticeattheLabourPartyConferenceOnSeptember28th2021formerleaderoftheUKLabourPartyEdMilibanddeliveredaspeechatthepartysannualconferenceinBrighton.MilibandwhocurrentlyservesastheShadowSecretaryofStateforBusinessEnergyandIndustrialStrategyusedhisplatformtodiscussthemeaningandsignificanceofsocialjusticeanditscriticalroleinshapingthefutureoftheLabourParty.MilibandopenedhisspeechbyhighlightingtheUKscurrentstateofinequalitycitingstatisticsthatshowthatthetop1%ofearnersinthecountryholdmorewealththanthebottom50%combinedandthatchildpovertyratesarerisingatanalarmingrate.HearguedthatthislevelofinequalityisunacceptableandthattheLabourPartyhasaresponsibilitytofightforafairermorejustsociety.IfwedontstandupforsocialjusticehesaidthenwhowillMilibandwentontoexplorethefundamentalprinciplesthatunderliesocialjusticestartingwiththeideathateveryoneshouldhaveanequalopportunitytosucceed.HecriticizedtheConservativegovernmentspoliciesoneducationandemploymentwhichhearguedhavecreatedasocietywheresocialmobilityisincreasinglyrare.Weneedasocietywhereyourabilitytosucceedisbasedonyourhardworkandtalentsnotyourpostcodeorfamilywealthhesaidtoapplausefromtheaudience.Milibandalsospokeabouttheimportanceofbuildingasocietythatisbasedoncompassionandempathyratherthanonethatisdrivensolelybyprofitandcompetition.HepraisedtheworkofLabourPartymembersactivistsandsupporterswhohavebeenvolunteeringtheirtimeandresourcestohelpthemostvulnerablemembersofsocietyduringtheCOVID-19pandemic.Wehaveseenwhatsocietycanachievewhenwecometogetherwithasharedpurposehesaid.Wemustcarrythisspiritforwardintothefutureandbuildasocietythatvalueskindnessandgenerosityasmuchasitvaluessuccessandachievement.Milibandsspeechalsotouchedontheissueofclimatechangeandtherolethatsocialjusticeplaysinaddressingthisglobalcrisis.HearguedthatitisthepoorestandmostvulnerablemembersofsocietywhoareoftenhithardestbytheeffectsofclimatechangeandthattheLabourPartyhasaresponsibilitytofightforajusttransitionthatprotectsthesecommunities.Weneedtobuildazero-carboneconomythatbenefitseveryonenotjustthewealthyfewhesaid.ThroughouthisspeechMilibandemphasizedtheimportanceoftakingactionratherthansimplytalkingabouttheneedforchange.HecalledontheLabourPartytobeboldandcourageousinitspoliciesandtonotbefrightenedbytheprospectofchange.WeneedtotakethefighttotheToriesandshowthatthereisabetterwayhesaid.Weneedtohavethecouragetoimagineadifferentfutureandthedeterminationtomakeitareality.InconclusionMilibandsspeechwasapowerfulreminderofthevaluesandprinciplesthatlieattheheartoftheLabourParty.Hemadeacompellingcasefortheimportanceofsocialjusticeandurgedpartymemberstofightforafairermoreequalsociety.AstheUKcontinuestograpplewiththeeffectsofthepandemicandwiththechallengesofclimatechangeMilibandsvisionofasocietybuiltoncompassionempathyandequalityismoreimportantthanever.第PAGE页共NUMPAGES页。
