1.5billionpeoplespeakingiteitherasafirstorsecondlanguage.AssuchteachingEnglishhasbecomeanimportantaspectofeducationworldwideespeciallyinnon-EnglishspeakingcountrieslikeChina.InthisreportwewillexaminethestrategiesusedinteachingEnglishduringthesecondsemesterofthe2023academicyearwithaviewtoidentifyingwhatworkedwellandwhatcanbeimprovedoninfuture.BackgroundTheteachingofEnglishlanguagehascomealongwayfromsolelyfocusingongrammarandvocabularytoencompassingamoreholisticapproachthatincludesfluencycommunicationandculturalunderstanding.Thesecondsemesterofthe2023academicyearsawtheintroductionofnewteachingstrategiesthataimedtoaddresstheseareasaswellastoincorporatetechnologyintheclassroom.MethodsThefollowingmethodswereusedinteachingEnglishduringthesecondsemesterofthe2023academicyear:
1.Interactivewhiteboards鈥Interactivewhiteboardswereintroducedintheclassroomtoprovideamoreengaginginteractiveandvisuallearningexperienceforstudents.
2.Collaborativeteaching鈥Teacherswerepaireduptoworktogethertoco-teachlessonswithoneteacherleadingandtheotherprovidingreinforcementsupportandfeedback.
3.Flippedclassroom鈥Theflippedclassroommodelwasimplementedwherebystudentswererequiredtoreviewandstudycontentoutsideofclassleavingclasstimefordiscussionandclarification.
4.Student-centeredlearning鈥Studentsweregivenmoreautonomyandresponsibilityfortheirownlearningwithteachersactingasfacilitatorsratherthandictators.ResultsThenewteachingstrategiesimplementedduringthesecondsemesterofthe2023academicyearyieldedpositiveresultswithstudentperformanceandengagementimprovingsignificantly.Theuseofinteractivewhiteboardsprovidedamorestimulatingandvisualenvironmentforlearningresultinginbetterattentionandcomprehension.Collaborativeteachingprovidedstudentswithawiderrangeoffeedbackandteachingstyleswhiletheflippedclassroommodelencouragedstudentstotakeownershipoftheirlearningresultinginamoreengagedandmotivatedstudentbody.Finallythestudent-centeredlearningapproachsawanimprovementincriticalthinkingskillsasstudentsweregiventheopportunitytoapplywhattheylearnedtoreal-lifesituations.ConclusionTheEnglishlanguageisanimportantgloballanguageandteachingitshouldcontinuallyevolvetokeepupwithchangingtimesandlearningstyles.Thesecondsemesterofthe2023academicyearsawtheintroductionofnewteachingstrategiesthatincorporatedtechnologyandstudent-centeredlearning.Thesestrategiesprovedsuccessfulinimprovingstudentperformanceandengagement.Theincorporationofthesestrategiesshouldbecontinuedinfuturewiththeaimofprovidingstudentswithawell-roundedandup-to-dateEnglishlanguageeducation.第PAGE页共NUMPAGES页。
