设计小学英语课程大纲IntroductionTheimportanceofdesigningasmall-scalecurriculumforelementaryEnglishtomeettheneedsandinterestsofstudentscannotbeoveremphasized.TherealizationofthishaspromptedmetowritethisarticletoprovideanoutlineofwhatadesignedcurriculumforelementaryEnglishlookslike.Itisadetailedguidethatwillincludethecourseobjectivesscopeandsequenceteachingandlearningresourcesassessmentandevaluationandstrategiesandapproaches.CourseObjectivesThecourseobjectivesarethefoundationoftheentirecurriculum.Itisnecessarytoidentifywhatwewanttoachieveattheendofthecourse.Aclearunderstandingofthiswillguidethecontentandactivitiesthatwillbeusedinteachingthecourse.TheobjectivesfortheelementaryEnglishcourseshouldinclude:
1.Developstudents’listeningspeakingreadingandwritingskillsinEnglish;
2.Developstudents’interestinandlovefortheEnglishlanguageanditsculture;
3.EnablestudentstocommunicateeffectivelyinEnglish;
4.Buildstudents’confidenceinspeakingEnglish;
5.Helpstudentsdevelopvaluessuchasrespectcooperationteamworkandculturaldiversity;
6.ProvideknowledgeandunderstandingofdifferentsubjectareasinEnglish;
7.PreparestudentsforfutureeducationandcareeropportunitiesthatrequireEnglishlanguageproficiency.ScopeandSequenceThescopeandsequencearethetwocomponentsthatoutlinewhatwillbetaughtandwhenitwillbetaught.Thescopeisthecontentweintendtocoverinthecoursewhilethesequenceistheorderinwhichthecontentwillbedelivered.Forinstancewecanbeginwiththefundamentaltopicssuchasgreetingsintroductionexpressionsofthanksandmovetomorecomplexsubjectssuchascolorsnumbersplacesweatherandbodyparts.TeachingandLearningResourcesTherearesomeresourceswemustprovidetoguaranteequalityteachingandlearning.Theseinclude:
1.LessonPlans:Theinstructorhastocreatelessonplanstoguidetheteachingprocess.Itincludesanoverviewoftheinstructionalactivitiesandobjectivesfortheday.
2.ClassroomEnvironment:Thelearningenvironmenthastobesafeandconduciveforlearning.Theroomhastobecleanwell-litandventilatedwiththenecessaryequipmentlikechalkboardmarkersandaudioandvideoaids.
